LOCAL PIANO GALLERY CELEBRATES 70 YEARS  Broussard’s Piano Gallery Anniversary Campaign Highlights a History of Providing Quality Instruments, Quality Service, and Music Education, Along with Giving Back to the Local Community MOBILE, Ala. (December 8, 2015) -- Broussard's Piano Gallery & Academy of Music is celebrating its 70th anniversary. Over the years, they’ve stuck to the pillars of customer service and quality products while also growing their business to contribute to the love and education of music in the local community. To celebrate, Broussard’s has 70 pianos of all types available: new and pre-owned; grand, upright, and digital. They are also offering unprecedented low prices throughout the year. Broussard’s Academy student recitals held in December will help round out the celebration, as follows:   December 11: 6 p.m. with Daniel Dekonty’s piano and vocal students and Mark Habib’s guitar students at the Eastern Shore location. December 12:  4 and 6 pm with Merle Pendleton’s students performing piano, violin and voice. December 19: 4 and 6 p.m. with Serenetta McCaskill’s piano and voice students performing. Broussard’s was originally opened in 1945 by Otis and Amida Broussard in the Evangeline Hotel in Houma, Louisiana. According to their son Byron, who opened the store in Mobile, Amida wrote that her husband had “gone crazy” and took all their money out of the bank to start this business. Byron also became involved in the business and opened today’s current stores in Slidell and Mobile, with the Mobile location opening in 1969. In 2006, Byron’s daughter Christy Broussard Myers came on board in Mobile, and the store moved to its current, expanded location and Broussard’s Academy of Music opened. They also have a second Academy location in Spanish Fort, which opened in 2014, in response to community need and request.
